How and why did you get into this business?

I came from private equity accounting where I developed a great interest in the structure and functionality of the private capital industry. My first professional role after college was an operational role for a wealth management firm in Texas where I had a great experience. My current role as the Private Capital Operations Associate applies my experience and interest in private capital in an operational capacity that gives me a new opportunity to learn a different side of the industry.

Why did you choose to come to work at Balentine?

I have a deep appreciation for organizations that prioritize company culture and workplace integrity. I found this to be consistent across every interaction I had through my interview process with Balentine. I also found that the Private Capital Operations Associate role is a great opportunity perfectly aligned with my skill set and interests.

What do you personally think makes Balentine different from other wealth management organizations?

All organizations, especially in the wealth management industry, have to find a way to connect with our clients at the end of the day. What stands out to me about Balentine is that the Balentine Way and the  Fundamentals behind the company culture are more than just a nice way of telling our story. Rather, they provide a course of action, business structure, and are woven into the team-oriented work environment. The commitment to living out those principles, rather than simply stating them, is what I think truly sets Balentine apart from other wealth managers.

What do you like to do in your down time away from work?

In my downtime, I love to cook. Making scratch meals, having cooking competitions with my fiance, and creating new recipes is my favorite hobby.

What is the most exotic place you have ever been?

The most exotic place I have found myself in is a rip current. I’m grateful to be able to add this to my brief list of fun facts, but it was pretty scary. On an excursion marketed as four hours of snorkeling and swimming with dolphins off of the Waianae Coast in Hawaii, I was plopped in the ocean with a quick warning to avoid a specific area that I couldn’t differentiate from the surrounding blue water. Wanting to feel free enough to swim below the water’s surface, I opted for no life vest. At a certain point, I found myself using all of the strength and energy I had to swim but noticed I wasn’t getting any closer to my friends. I immediately remembered the subtle warning of potentially being dragged out to sea. Eventually, I was able to swim across the current and back to the boat where I remained for the rest of the excursion. Regardless of my confidence level, I will now always opt for a life vest.
