Why did you choose to come to Balentine?
I’ve always had an idea in my head of what my ideal workplace would be. I’ve worked in several different fields, spanning from food and beverage and hospitality to administration. Because of this, I’ve been able to experience numerous different types of work environments and businesses, both good and bad. Balentine is the first company I have worked for that is the perfect combination of all the ideals that a company should have. There is a great deal genuine care and transparency when it comes to their clients, and they invest the same amount of effort into their team. I knew after my first interview that this would be the company where I could set roots and grow.
What inspires you to come to work each day?
My father. He is a simple and humble man, never prone to large ambitions or grand dreams. All he has ever wanted and worked for was to make sure that his family was provided for and comfortable. He joined his career field at an age where many are looking towards retirement or promotions to executive offices. He also endured several periods of unemployment, holding down odd jobs until he found his next stable employment. Yet, my whole life, it felt as if we never went without. As I get older, I come to see and appreciate the sacrifices he’s made for our family. I’ve watched him wake up every dawn to go to work for almost 30 years, and now I hope to show him the fruits of his labors.
What is the most exotic place you have ever been?
Machu Picchu, Peru. Although my mother is from Peru and I lived there as a young girl, I did not get to actually experience Machu Picchu until 2017. My mother and I took a glass enclosed train through the mountains, a bus up the base, and a long hike to finally arrive to our destination. All the while my mother told me of the histories of the Incas, named the different mountains they would worship, and explained the amazing feats of agriculture and architecture found in the Inca Empire. It is my most treasured memory.
What do you like to do in your down time away from work?
Simply put, my hobbies are eating and working out so I can eat more. My friends and I are always on the hunt for a place with the perfect balance of great food and good atmosphere!
What keeps you awake at night?
Louis. My 50 pound boxer pit-bull mix who radiates heat better than a sauna and tends to stretch in his sleep and take up 75-80% of my bed. Don’t let his appearance fool you, he trembles at the sight of thunderstorms, vacuums, and wet wipes and is an avid fan of butterflies and crackers. I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world.
