How and why did you get into this business?
Financial markets have always fascinated me since I first learned about them. They're like a constantly changing puzzle with so many inputs or factors that go into making prices move up and down. I have a true passion for learning and there is always so much to learn about all the factors involved in what drives markets, from human and evolutionary psychology, to economics/econometrics/statistics and history.
Why did you choose to work at Balentine?
I was so impressed with the people who work here during my interview process - David, then Ben and Christina, and also Gabe and Susie. On both a personal level and a professional level, I felt I would be fortunate if offered an opportunity to work with them.
What is the most exotic place you have ever been?
I don't know if I have ever been anywhere very exotic but my wife, Brittany, and I did go to Paris and then Rome for our Honeymoon. We have both always loved history and we decided we would rather go see really cool historic sites rather than sit on a beach somewhere for a week. We had a bottle of champagne at the Eiffel Tower at Midnight before we flew home.
If you weren't in this business, what would you be doing?
I hope I will always be working in some capacity. I was lucky enough to find something that I enjoy doing, similar to what Warren Buffett said about enjoying what he does so much he practically "tap dances to work." I already try to teach some people about economics, markets and money. I would like to do more of that in the future.
